Who runs ScanRaise

ScanRaise is built and operated by StanHattie LLC, a software company formed in Iowa in 2023. We are a small, independent team, not a venture-backed sales organization, and we answer our own support email. Why we built it

ScanRaise started with a K-12 fundraiser in Iowa. The old way was paper order forms that never came back, envelopes of cash a volunteer treasurer had to count, and platforms that quietly took a large cut of every dollar raised. Families wanted to give but nobody carried cash to the door anymore.

So we built the simplest possible bridge between a donor's phone and an organization's bank account: a QR code on a printed card. The donor scans, picks an amount, and pays with Apple Pay, Google Pay, or a card. The organization watches the total climb on a live leaderboard. No app to install on either side.

How the money works

This is the part that makes ScanRaise different, so we want to be precise about it. Organizations with connected Stripe accounts receive donations through Stripe Connect according to Stripe's payout schedule. In that mode, ScanRaise does not hold or disburse the organization's funds. Approved organizations using platform collection receive monthly payouts by check or bank transfer after ScanRaise collects the donations in its Stripe account.

Our fee is a flat 2.5% per donation. No setup fees, no monthly fees, no contracts. Stripe's standard card processing fee (2.9% plus 30 cents) applies separately, the same as it would on any online payment, and a checkbox lets donors cover both fees so the organization can keep the full gift. That is the entire pricing story. The one exception is political campaigns, which add a per-campaign monthly subscription on top of the 2.5%.

Trust, privacy, and student data

ScanRaise handles donations and, for schools, student rosters. We treat that as the bar we are held to, not a feature to bolt on later.

• Parental-consent and student-data controls. Adult organizers control public participant display names and are instructed to use first name and last initial for children. Schools remain responsible for their notices, agreements, configuration, and legal review.
• Clever Library sign-in for teachers and ClassLink SSO for K-12 districts.
• Payments handled by Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1). ScanRaise never sees full card or bank numbers.
• Daily off-site encrypted backups and passwordless sign-in by magic link or passkey.
• StanHattie LLC carries General Liability and Errors and Omissions coverage through Next Insurance.
